LCM20T - Turning at higher cutting speed on stainless steels
Boehlerit, the alliance partner of LMT, has developed a new indexable insert turning grade that makes higher cutting speeds (of more than 200 m/min) possible when turning on stainless steels. The reliable, heat-resistant gradient carbide of the new LCM20T turning grade stands out with its high stability against plastic deformation. The new indexable inserts are equipped with the patented Nanolock TiCN layer with an extremely smooth and heat-resistant ceramic top coat. The layer reduces the adhesive bonding tendency of stainless steels and ensures high cutting speeds. Boehlerit developed the new MM geometry (Medium ISO-M) of the LCM20T in the company's chip channel. The cutting performance of this grade is extremely effective and chip breaking is reliable. A chip impact protector in the middle of the cutting edge protects chipping of the cutting edge caused by chip impact when turning against the shoulder. The new LCM20T turning grade comes in addition to the heavy-duty LC435D grade in the cutting speed range of vc 170 m/min to 220 m/min. The excellent performance is illustrated by the distinction received for the patent: A Boehlerit layer patent was elected among the top 10 of 3,300 Austrian patents registered in 2012.
